Johanna Long Overcomes Obstacles for Top 10 at SpeedFest
Long Makes Most of Weekend
“We were good when we tested, but qualifying was a different story,” said Long. “We ended up 27th and we had to fight all day to get the car to the front. We made it to 15th by halfway and that was our goal. We managed to finish 10th which felt good after starting so deep in the field.”
Long did loose a lap midway through the event, but recovered to finish on the lead lap.
Long will take a few weeks off before she hits her next big Super Late Model event, which will be the Rattler 250 at South Alabama Speedway (AL) on March 7th.
In 2009, the SpeedFest Super Late Model event at Lanier National Speedway (GA) was the event where Johanna Long was able to show the racing world how talented she was after posting a third-place finish behind NASCAR star Kyle Busch and Georgia racing standout Jason Hogan.
2010 might be the same type of story as Long hopes to build momentum off a 10tth place finish that salvaged a weekend that looked sour after the qualifying session.
