Johanna Long Rockets to Third at Mobile In Gulf Coast Championship Series
Best Finish of 2010 Comes After Starting in the Back
With the strong finishes it keeps Long in the mix for the 2010 Gulf Coast Championship. If she is going to repeat as champion, she will have to come from behind just like she did in 2009.
“We had a great year last year with the wins and all the championships. We know that you can’t be on cloud nine all the time,” said Long. “We are just working through all the tough times and hopefully we can get back to victory lane soon.”
Long’s next scheduled events are on the upcoming Gulf Coast Championship races on August 11th and 12th at Five Flags Speedway (FL) and Mobile International Speedway (AL).

Johanna Long, the 2009 Gulf Coast Super Late Model Champion, has been searching for the right combination all season long on the Florida Panhandle. After scoring a mediocre sixth-place finish at Five Flags on Friday, Long returned to Mobile to score a third-place finish after contending for the win all night.
“We said before the race that a top five would feel like a victory for us after starting deep in the pack,” said Long. “The car was good after we did some work to it and I am really proud because this is our best finish of the year. It might also have been the hardest races I have run ever.”
