Long Scored Top Five in Solid Run at Pensacola

Great Pit Work Nearly Lands Long in Victory Lane
Long received a slight tap from Chase Elliott, who was on the apron of the third turn trying to avoid a wreck. Long lost the tail and drifted down to the low side and rode the groove around to straighten up in turn four. Long managed to only loose two spots in the encounter that will might be remembered as the save of the year.

“That was pretty big for me to save the car like that,” said Long.  “We really could have ended up second or won the race and that will be a good transition for our next Blizzard Series Race.”

On Saturday, Long planned to runt he Miller Lite Super Late Model race at Mobile International Speedway (AL), but that event was rained out.

Long will be back in action on the track on Friday, June 25th at Five Flags Speedway in Pensacola, Florida for the third round of the Blizzard Super Late Model Series.

Johanna Long made some noise Friday night in the second Blizzard Super Late Model race of the 2010 season at Five Flags Speedway.  The Pensacola, Florida native has been just a bit off compared to last year’s performance, but after her latest showing, a fifth-place finish, it’s only a matter of time before she lands in victory lane again.

“We qualified really well and just missed the pole,” said Long.  “We ran really well in the race and the guys got me off pit road in second after a great pit stop.   We were racing for the lead with Josh (Hamner) and I had a shot to take the lead at one point and I should have taken it because we almost got spun out the next lap.”
