Johanna Long Tries New Venues in the Southeast
PASS South Swing In Carolina’s Produces Sub-Par Results
Long ran in the top ten during both races only to have trouble in closing laps of each event.
“They were wrecking in front of me,” said Long. “My crew came over the radio saying “wreck in front of you, wreck in front of you” so I hit the brakes and I hit someone’s oil and went into the wall so that was it for us at Greenville.
“We started eighth at Hickory and we had a pretty good run. We got spun out one time and had to come from the back on several occasions. It was a tough end to a long weekend.”
Long will keep her head high as she makes her ARCA RE/MAX Series debut at Iowa Speedway (IA) on Saturday, July 11th.
Johanna Long left the comfort of the Florida Panhandle to race a weekend doubleheader with the PASS South Super Late Model Series in the Carolinas over the Fourth of July weekend. The trip brought her to historic short track racing venues like the Greenville-Pickens Speedway (SC) and the Hickory Motor Speedway (NC). The results didn’t show how well she ran at times during the weekend. She ended up 17th at Greenville, and 14th at Hickory.
“We feel good about how well we ran,” said Long. “I’ve never been to these race tracks before and passing a lot of cars late in the race at Hickory felt good. It was a rough weekend, but they will happen from time to time.”
